What's on at St Bart's

We have a very diverse congregation here at St Bart's, and we try to ensure that everyone feels part of the church family. As part of this, we have a variety of groups taking place during the week, many making use of the church centre. Being part of the church isn't just about turning up on a Sunday morning!

Fellowship groups

We meet regularly in fellowship groups to study what the bible says about various issues. God has given his Holy Spirit to change us and enable us to live in the way he wants; but he has also given us one another to be a support in these areas. We can use fellowship groups both to be accountable to one another and to encourage one another in our lives as Christians. We also drink coffee, eat biscuits and chat!

Groups meet either weekly or bi-weekly at different times and days of the week. You should be able to find one near you, that you are able to attend. For details of meetings check the weekly diary or contact us for more information.

Youth activities

Knowing God

This group meets fortnightly on Thursday evenings to study God's word using a similar format to Mums: The Word. The 3-yearly cycle of studies follows a Bible overview course, a study of John's Gospel and the book of Romans.

Soup Run

St. Bart's is actively involved with other churches in the city providing soup and food to the homeless. We are responsible for providing and serving food every Tuesday evening, and we are always grateful for new members of the team. The commitment is to be available from 6.30pm to 8pm about one Tuesday each month in term time. You would be working as part of a team, and would never be asked to work alone. The Soup Run takes place at the Old Cattle Market, Walcot Street. This is a particularly important ministry of love and care to those who are in considerable need in our city.

Movie Matters

Movies matter. Or do they? What do they say about the culture around us?

As a part of St. Bart's desire to apply the message of the Gospel to the culture in which we live, we run a monthly film evening on a Friday or Saturday. We watch a contemporary film (using high quality digital projection onto a large screen with surround sound) and afterwards discuss it, the aim being to explore the messages being communicated, to investigate the current trends being portrayed and to provide a setting in which these issues can be discussed and responded to from a biblical perspective. We hope that this will be informative for Christians who desire to gain a greater understanding of the way in which films communicate their message, how we should respond to those messages, and how we can use these tools as an opportunity to discuss the message of the Gospel.
